These tiny, unassuming seeds are a powerful source of essential, omega-3 fatty acids with levels even higher than flax seeds. This make them great for reducing high blood pressure thereby giving a boost to cardiovascular health. Chia seeds are an important source of linoleic acid, a heart healthy form of unsaturated omega-6 fatty acid. Fatty acids in the diet improve nerve transmission, and this gives a boost to brain function. Native to southern Mexico, chia seeds are a member of the mint family, and were a legendary main component in the diets of Aztec and Mayan warriors. The Aztecs also used chia seeds for medicinal purposes, specifically for the relief of joint pain and for sore skin. Exceptionally high in antioxidants, chia seeds have a long shelf life and don't have to be ground to be fully bio-available. High in fiber, chia seeds are packed with calcium, phosphorous, manganese, magnesium, niacin and zinc. It's nutty flavor makes chia seeds an easy and delicious addition to baked goods, sauces, yogurts, and cereals. Try mixing them with water, sugar, and lime juice to make a popular South American drink called chia fresca. Chia seeds turn into a gel when soaked in water, and this may be how they promote a feeling of fullness during digestion. The seeds help stabilize blood sugar which may aids in weight loss. They may also have anti-inflammatory properties, as chia seeds have been shown to ameliorate the pain and inflammation of arthritis.

Due to the perishable nature of our chocolate and candy, we take special care to ensure delivery in perfect condition. If the temperature in our area or yours is above 70F, we only allow shipping using expedited methods (2 Day Air and UPS Next Day Air) and each box is packed with special insulation and gel ice. There's $5 charge added to the shipping fee to cover for the cost of the added insulation and gel ice. During the summer months, to prevent chocolates and candy from sitting on a truck over a weekend we only ship chocolates and candy Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
