Due to the perishable nature
of our chocolate and candy, we take special care to ensure delivery in perfect
condition. If the temperature in our area or yours is above 70F, we only allow
shipping using expedited methods (2 Day Air and UPS Next Day Air) and
each box is packed with special insulation and gel ice. There's $5 charge
added to the shipping fee to cover for the cost of the added insulation and
gel ice. During the summer months, to prevent chocolates and candy from
sitting on a truck over a weekend we only ship chocolates and candy Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday.
Organic Amaranth (1 Pound Bag)
The common name for this seed is “amaranth grain,” although it is definitely not a grain! Use amaranth just as you would use quinoa, millet or other grain-replacing seeds. It’s a fine replacement for rice, with a slightly richer flavor, although amaranth does not fluff well—when fully cooked in liquid, it has a consistency that’s closer to a thick porridge than to mounded rice. In fact, in addition to your main courses, you might find amaranth to be a superior breakfast food, especially when boiled in a mixture of water and apple or pear juice and served with fresh butter and honey. But amaranth is most popular for its ability to replace some or all of the wheat in one’s diet, or at least to augment the nutrient profile, since amaranth contains essential amino acids (particularly lysine and methionine) that are missing in grains. Amaranth is also extremely nutrient dense—high in protein, fiber, minerals and vitamins, making it a “superfood” that can help form the foundation of a healthy diet.
