Flax seeds are all the rage and for good reason, as they are high in healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and particularly high in lignans, a type of phytoestrogen (a plant-based estrogen). Lignans are converted by the body into hormone-like substances that may decrease a woman's risk for breast cancer. This important fatty acid may help restore hormonal balance promoting normal ovulation and thereby boosting chances of conception. The lignans in flax seeds have been shown to ease some of the symptoms of perimenopause in women, including anxiety, headaches, sleep difficulties, fluid retention, and even mood swings. A small study done by researchers at Minnesota's Mayo Clinic found that flax seeds may decrease the frequency of hot flashes in postmenopausal women. Easier to digest once when ground (and easy to grind in a coffee grinder), flax seeds are high in fiber and are often used as a digestive aid to promote regularity. These tiny, mild tasting seeds help reduce total blood cholesterol, subsequently lowering the risk of heart disease; they also work to lower blood pressure and decrease inflammation. Flax seeds may also be an important aid in the fight against rising rates of diabetes. Regular flax seed consumption helps protect against the development of metabolic syndrome, an early warning sign for type 2 diabetes. Flax seeds are a true superfood, ground or whole, they are incredibly versatile, and can be easily added to baked goods, cereals, meat coatings, or mixed in to condiments, sauces or gravies.

Due to the perishable nature of our chocolate and candy, we take special care to ensure delivery in perfect condition. If the temperature in our area or yours is above 70F, we only allow shipping using expedited methods (2 Day Air and UPS Next Day Air) and each box is packed with special insulation and gel ice. There's $5 charge added to the shipping fee to cover for the cost of the added insulation and gel ice. During the summer months, to prevent chocolates and candy from sitting on a truck over a weekend we only ship chocolates and candy Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
