Native to Bolivia, Chile, and Peru, quinoa is a seed, thatís considered a pseudo-grain. Itís cooked like a grain, and is a complete protein (15% protein content) - a rarity in the plant world. This means it contains all nine essential amino acids, and itís particularly high the amino acid lysine, which aids in calcium absorption and bone health. High in magnesium, quinoa should be on the menu of anyone bothered by migraines. Magnesium helps relax blood vessels, and works to prevent the characteristic throbbing migraine pain. Combined with the riboflavin (vitamin B2), quinoa may also help reduce the frequency of migraine attacks. Magnesium also helps prevent high blood pressure, heart arrhythmias, and heart disease.
Cultivated by the Incans in South America, quinoa is light, and easy to digest. For those diagnosed with gluten intolerance, or celiac disease, gluten-free quinoa is one of the few grains that will not cause an allergic reaction. Look to quinoa as a tasty and excellent source of manganese and copper; two important nutrients that form the building blocks of antioxidant enzymes that protect red blood cells from damage by toxic free radicals. Quinoa is also a potent source of iron, the key mineral needed to fight anemia and the fatigue that often accompanies it. A true superfood, quinoa is high in vitamin E, a nutrient vital to fighting cancer, heart disease, and cognitive decline. According to the National Institutes of Healthís Office of Dietary Supplements, large prospective studies have found that high dietary intakes of vitamin E reduces the risk of developing cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Donít overlook this whole grain as an important source of fiber. Quinoa is high in insoluble fiber, which offers protection against a panoply of illnesses including heart disease, breast and colon cancers, gallstones, type 2 diabetes, and even childhood asthma.

Question: Are these Quinoa Seeds pre-washed?
Answer: Quinoa in its natural state has a coating of saponins. Saponins make the Quinoa bitter tasting and unpalatable. Our Quinoa, just like most Quinoa sold commercially is processed to remove this coating and washed.
Question: Are your products labeled Kosher?
Answer: Yes - our Kosher certified products are labeled Kosher. Our Organic Quinoa is certified kosher Pareve.
Question: I would like to order Organic Quinoa in the 25 lb or larger container. It states that bulk discount is $1.50, but when I picked the 25 lb package it comes out to be $2.45 @lb. What would be considered the size for the $1.50 per pound package. Thank you in advance. Clarke
Answer: The discount is already included in the 25# case price ($61.25). $1.50/lb is what you are saving compared to if you were to buy the product in 1 pound bags.
Question: Where is the organic quinoa produced and how do I know it is organic?
Answer: The country of origin is Peru. The product will have USDA certified organic logo as well as the name of the local certifying board. Our plant is audited by this board evey year.
