A member of the squash family, the seeds of pumpkins have figured prominently in Native American diets and were were used for centuries for the treatment of kidney, bladder, and digestive disorders. For almost 100 years, the U.S. Pharmacopoeia listed pumpkin seeds as a treatment for intestinal parasites. Combine a pedigree like that with their great, rich taste, and pumpkin seeds are indeed something special. High in antioxidants, cholesterol-lowering phytosterols, and amino acids, pumpkin seeds should be a staple on-hand in every kitchen. So powerful, it only takes a few ounces of pumpkin seeds to raise the level of iron in women who are deficient. In addition, these seeds are high in tryptophan, an amino acid that triggers serotonin production which in turn promotes calmness and a more restful sleep. An important therapeutic benefit of pumpkin seeds has been seen in prostate health studies. In a large study conducted at Sanmyung University (Seoul, Korea) men with enlarged prostates (also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia) who were given a supplement of pumpkin seed oil saw a 41% decrease in troublesome urinary symptoms, and reported a 46% bump in improved quality of life. The researchers concluded that the use of pumpkin seed oil is clinically safe and may be an effective complementary and alternative treatment for enlarged prostates. The fact that they're terribly addictive is simply another bonus.

If the temperature in our area or yours is above 70F, we only allow shipping using expedited methods (2 Day Air and UPS Next Day Air) and each box is packed with special insulation and gel ice. There's $5 charge added to the shipping fee to cover for the cost of the added insulation and gel ice. During the summer months, to prevent chocolates and candy from sitting on a truck over a weekend we only ship chocolates and candy Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
